Pacific Southwest Mennonite Conference Winter Assembly

The People of God: Discovering Identity, Celebrating Community, Doing Mission Together

Theme text: Acts 11: 1-18

This assembly will depart from our normal approach, which has been to listen to the voice of a keynote speaker. At this assembly we will listen to the voices from within our Conference.

Friday night’s theme is “Discovering Our Identity” and we will be led in a time of Dwelling in the Word so that we may listen to what God’s voice is saying to us. Then we will hear stories about early Mennonite immigrants to North America and note parallels to contemporary Mennonite immigrants.

Saturday morning begins with worship and Dwelling in the Word. We will be given time to ask ourselves, “In what ways do we experience God ‘Celebrating Community’ with us?”

Saturday afternoon follows the same rhythm with a focus on “Doing Mission Together” and time will be allowed to explore the theme further as we gather for workshops.

Our closing worship service will celebrate God’s activity in our lives as we experience the living presence of Jesus in a gathering around the Communion table.

Lastly, John Murray, the PSMC Youth Minister, will coordinate our youth program and facilitate a workshop designed for congregational Youth Leaders.
